Our veterinary staff recommends a yearly oral exam performed at the same time as your pets yearly wellness and immunizations. Dental cleanings are offered at all 3 of our locations.
Dental prophylaxis (cleaning and polishing) is performed on your pet while under general anesthesia. As with all general anesthesia, your pet will have bloodwork performed prior to anesthesia. The veterinarian will also perform a deep oral examination and help identify problem areas in your pets mouth. The doctor will look for tooth fractures, caries (cavities), excessive wear, and problems under the gum line we are not able to observe without anesthesia. Generally your pet will be discharged the same day of the prophylaxis.
