GENERAL SURGERY

At the Veterinary Medical Center, we offer many types of common surgeries.  Surgical procedures are performed under general anesthesia.

All patients will receive an exam and blood work prior to anesthesia.  The blood work will determine what type of anesthesia and help us determine your pets’ immediate needs while under general anesthesia.

Examples of common surgeries would be:

  • Spay (Ovariohysterectomy)
  • Neuter (Castration)
  • Lump removal and biopsy
  • Laceration repair
  • Abscess and wound repair/treatment
  • Exploratory surgery
  • Foreign body removal/repair
  • Cystotomy (bladder stone removal)

Surgical procedures require general anesthesia, we will determine at the time of surgery if your pet will need to spend the night in the hospital or in the comfort of their own home.  We routinely prescribe pain medication to be determined at the time of the procedure, this is to ensure your pet is comfortable during the recovery period.
